British Airways to Sell £80 Home Delivery Meal Box

Frequent flyers in the UK who are missing airline meals can now order a £80 British Airways first class meal box to be delivered to their home.

Home delivery

The unusual food delivery service was announced today by British Airways, which teamed up with Feast Box and DO & CO to make this project possible.

According to the British flag carrier, “travellers who are missing the skies and want to experience the culinary delights of first class dining” can now order the 80 GBP meal box online, which will be delivered to their front door.

The kits, which serve two people, are available to order starting today with deliveries beginning next week. The cheapest meal boxes start at 80 GBP, while the more expensive dishes will set you back 100 quid.

Cook at home

If you expect a completely cooked and prepared meal to be delivered at home you might be in for a surprise, as you will still have to prepare the “limited-edition cook-at-home meal” yourself if you want to mirror British Airways’ First cabin dining experience at home.

A BA press statement read: “Each meal kit includes a four-course menu inspired by the luxurious food served in British Airways’ First cabin.

“Customers can choose vegetarian, fish and meat dishes in their kit. They will receive the full ingredients – as used in the First cabin – to cook the meal at home, along with a recipe sheet and an information card in the form of a passport.”

Some of the dishes you can look forward to are 48-hour slow cooked beef cheeks in jus and artisan handmade agnolotti pasta.

Missing flying

According to British Airways, the project was launched for the people in the UK who currently cannot travel abroad on leisure trips due to strict government measures to curtail the corona pandemic and thus have to miss out on the full flying experience.

Head of Brands and Marketing at British Airways Hamish McVey said: “We hope that this exclusive First experience will allow our customers who are missing flying to enjoy an amazing dining experience at home.

“British Airways, Feast Box and DO & CO take huge pride in offering top quality international cuisine, and although it might appear a little different being delivered to a customer’s door rather than at 38,000 feet, we hope it will be just as exciting.”

Discount

Although the 80 GBP price for the British Airways food box might seem a bit high, it does come with a nice extra. If you order the food box, you will also receive a 10% discount voucher which you can use on a future British Airways booking.

If you were already planning to book a future BA flight, you could therefore easily earn back the costs of the food box by applying the discount code on your future booking, which should certainly be possible if you buy a long haul or premium cabin flight ticket.

You can order your food box through the Feastbox website.
