People living in Hungary and Poland who are contemplating booking an autumn holiday might want to take a close look at this particular offer. Budget airliner Wizz Air currently has cheap flights available from both Budapest and Warsaw to the city of Catania on the Italian island of Sicily.

Flights out of Budapest are currently the cheapest. These can be booked for just 8,680 HUF (25 EUR) for a return ticket. When flying out of the Polish capital of Warsaw flights are only a wee bit more expensive, with Warsaw to Catania flights starting at 172 PLN (39 EUR) return.

These low fares are only available in the months of September and October – which is a perfect time of the year to visit Sicily.

Low fares

Both of these fares are only available to Wizz Air discount club members. If you are not a member yet of the Wizz Air discount club you pay around 10 EUR more for each one-way flight.

You can easily add a year’s membership to the Wizz Air discount club during the booking process and immediately profit from the discounts. In general you need to book three one-way flights on Wizz Air each year to recoup the membership costs.

Luggage

Included in the fare is a small rucksack only. If you want to take a trolley or larger bag as carry-on luggage on board, or want to check in a bag into the hold of the aircraft, extra charges will apply.

As a Wizz Air discount club member you however save 5 euro on each added bag.

Sicily

Catania makes for an excellent base from where to discover the sights of Sicily and the city itself is a worthwhile destination on its own with its fine baroque architecture and great food.

Of course, Catania is best known for its proximity to the Etna volcano, which makes for an easy day trip.

Also within close reach of Catania are the gorgeous cities of Taormina and Syracuse which are must-see places for anyone interested in history or picturesque Italian towns.
