Milan or Rome (Italy) to Dar Es Salaam, Zanzibar (Tanzania) for 424 EUR!

Ethiopian Airlines currently has cheap flights on sale from Italy (Milan or Rome) to Zanzibar, Dar Es Salaam or Kilimanjaro in Tanzania for just 424 euro for a return ticket!

Ethiopian Airlines

The flights with Ethiopian Airlines are available from both Milan Malpensa as well as Rome Fiumicino Airport in Italy. With a quick and easy change of planes in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa, you can fly to your Tanzanian dream destination.

Ethiopian serves the Tanzanian capital of Dar Es Salaam, as well as the island of Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro Airport in the north of the country.

Flight route

Return ticket prices start at a very decent 424 euro return. If you embark in Milan, you will first fly to Rome where the plane will pick up more passengers en route to Ethiopia (you will remain on board the plane).

Ethiopian Airlines, which is part of Star Alliance, is known for its good on-board service and excellent ground service, meaning that changing flights in Addis is smooth and straightforward. On tight connections, you are even often picked up straight from the aircraft and driven directly to your connecting flight!

The great aspect of the flight deal is that it allows open-jaw itineraries, meaning that you could for example fly from Milan to Dar Es Salaam, but return home from Zanzibar, thus combining multiple destinations within Tanzania.

Availability

Flights are widely available throughout the winter and spring of 2021. Do note that the minimum stay requirement is 4 days and maximum 1 month. Stopovers in Addis Ababa can be added to your itinerary for a 70 USD surcharge, if you want.

You can puzzle together your ideal flight itinerary using the ITA Matrix, which is my preferred flight search tool. Book flights through a third-party website like Kayak or directly at Ethiopian Airlines.

Tanzania

What makes Tanzania attractive as a destination is that it is one of the few places in the world which currently does not have any corona restrictions.

You can travel to the country without needing a negative PCR test or having to go in isolation on arrival.

Although I never had the privilege to visit it myself, Tanzania does packs in a lot of amazing sights and should make for an excellent introduction to Africa.

With Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania has a booming, lively capital city with excellent transport links by road, rail, sea and air to other destinations in the country.

In the north of the country, you will find the bulk of the national parks. If you have always wanted to go on safari, places like Arusha and Serengeti NP are world class when it comes to wildlife.

And what better way to end your holiday than spending some days on Zanzibar’s exotic beaches or exploring historic Stone Town?
