Cancun

There is more than just beaches in the area, as there are famous Mayan archaeological sites at nearby Chichen Itza and Tulum.

You could also use Cancun as a starting point of a larger Mexican travel itinerary as the airport is well-connected with domestic flights to about every major city in the country.
